My exit from Christianity didn't begin with a book. It began with hurt.
Every person who ever lied to me, lied on me, or did me wrong called themselves a Christian. That hypocrisy is what first cracked things open. What kept them open was pharmacy school — every science prerequisite there was — followed by a decade of going deep into spirituality on my own.
Along the way I noticed a pattern I couldn't unnotice: religion described an all-powerful, ever-present, beginningless, endless being called God. Science described the same characteristics and called it Energy. Spirituality called it the Universe. Three rooms, one description, three different names on the door.
This book is what happened when I stopped treating those as three different conversations.
